Glasslake is a rapidly growing mortgage lender. Since the start of our operations in 2023, we have expanded presence across Canada in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. We plan to have operations from coast-to-coast and are currently expanding our mortgage lending footprint to the province of Quebec. We are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to lead these efforts. The successful candidate will be well versed in provincial and federal regulatory, and operation matters for the business and enjoy building an operation from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate in a fast-paced, evolving environment, set achievable milestones with the direction from the Vice President, Risk, Credit & Compliance and build meaningful connections both internally and externally with key stakeholders.

What you’ll do

Credit Evaluation:
- Underwrite and decision files based on sound credit with particular emphasis on adherence to credit policy and requirements, risk culture, financial analysis/modeling, risk evaluation and mitigation and proper loan structuring within delegated authority
- Conduct in-depth review, analysis and research of balance sheets, income statements, cash statement, text returns and projections to underwrite mortgage files.
- Interpret and analyze financial information from multiple sources, including reporting services, credit bureaus, credit reports, and other industry data to inform underwriting decisions.
- Assess the borrower’s ability to generate income sufficient to repay existing and proposed debt
- Review appraisal, environmental, and other reports to identify risk areas and recommend mitigating solutions and next steps.
- Prepare narrative analysis of the financial review, demonstrating a thorough understanding of financial condition.
- Recommend various loan structures (and pricing structures) that balance risks and rewards.
- Adhere to applicable compliance obligations including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements.
- Establish relationships with Sales and other key stakeholders that optimizes business potential with broker channel
Facilitate Diligence and Closing:
- Act as primary point of contact with borrowers from initial credit application to submission of loan requests to loan closing to ensure a seamless and positive client service experience
- Oversee coordination of borrower onboarding, loan underwriting and loan funding functions to ensure a streamlined and efficient process
- Communicate credit committee decisions and loan terms to borrowers
- Effectively and independently manage a pipeline of loan originations from application to post-close status
Who you are
- At least 3 years of experience in residential / commercial underwriting, financial analysis or deal structing in financial services
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred
- Formal credit or residential/commercial loan training and some previous credit decisioning preferred
- Knowledge of credit/underwriting of small commercial real estate loans.
- Working knowledge of bankruptcy, foreclosure and litigation matters is considered an asset
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
